KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Tennessee Department of Transportation is asking the public for input as it works through plans to address congestion along a 17-mile stretch of Interstate 40 — from the I-40/I-75 split to the I-40/I-640 interchange — which TDOT says includes three of the worst bottlenecks in the state.
Among the options under consideration is a proposed 25-mile I-75 bypass running from the I-40/I-75 split to I-75 at Raccoon Valley Road. The route would pass partially through Knox County and into Anderson County. TDOT says the proposal differs from a similar “Orange Route” bypass considered and rejected in previous years.
