ALCOA, Tenn. (WATE) — Alcoa Highway is closed in both directions near Airbase Road after a crash that injured two and knocked over power lines Wednesday morning, the Alcoa Police Department said.
Two people were transported for injuries, one with severe injuries, a police spokeswoman said. Alcoa Electric is working to remove the electric lines that are blocking the roadway.

There is no timeframe for the closure, the spokeswoman said. Around 9:30 a.m., the Tennessee Department of Transportation said it would be “an extended closure.”
Traffic has been diverted to Pellissippi Parkway. The three-vehicle crash was reported at 7 a.m., according to TDOT’s SmartWay map.
