KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – KTG Bus has spent the summer overhauling its fleet and hiring drivers ahead of Knox County Schools’ first day, which is set for Aug. 10.
The company retired 15 buses this year and has replaced them, with the last eight new buses scheduled for pickup the following week. KTG maintains a 10% overage of buses on hand so it can add routes as Knox County’s population grows.
KTG said it is fully staffed, having hired 10 new drivers this summer, with five more in the pipeline. Among the new hires is Thomas Weaver, for whom this fall will be his first as a school bus driver…
