KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank is calling for a public hearing on license plate readers, asking the county sheriff to explain how the department uses the cameras, how they work, and whether residents need to be informed about any surveillance conducted through them.
The hearing is scheduled for Sept. 10 at Clinton High school.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office had sought to add 300 more license plate readers to its network, but Sheriff Spangler halted that expansion amid growing public concern. A separate discussion on the cameras is scheduled for Aug. 24…
