Three Tennessee middle school students were arrested on Thursday after they allegedly made a call about an active shooter at a rival middle school.

All three suspects are in the eighth grade at Gibbs Middle School, located in Corryton, about 15 miles northeast of Knoxville.

Citing the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, WBIR-TV reported that the trio were charged with making a false report , a felony, in addition to misdemeanor charges of making threats of mass destruction and abusing the E-911 communications system.

Multiple schools in the area were put on lockdown due to the alleged active shooter, while law enforcement rushed to the middle school where the threat was made, according to WBIR-TV.

Once the all-clear was given, students were dismissed due to the emotional distress of the lockdown and possible deadly threat, WBIR-TV reported.
