Officials with Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties (ADFAC) have announced that community volunteers James and Sheila Michel will be the next recipients of the Bill Wilcox Bow Tie Award and will be celebrated at the Bow Tie Event & Fundraiser Nov. 16 at the Doubletree in Oak Ridge.
“Jim and Sheila have been so generous in our community with their time, talent and treasure in so many ways and through many organizations. Jim has been instrumental at Free Medical Clinic and Sheila has been the heart of TORCH since inception. It will be an honor to celebrate their love and commitment,” Bow Tie Event Chair Wendie Aurin stated in a news release.
The Bow Tie Award was established in 2013 to honor the late Bill Wilcox’s commitment to the community by honoring someone who:
- Has similar values and who has or is living a meaningful life working to do good for others in unique selfless ways,
- Has been or is currently active in our community, and
- Whose actions have created positive local impact throughout East Tennessee.
