Former Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Gerald Mincey hasn’t exactly had a smooth breakup with the UT fan base after transferring to Kentucky earlier this month.
Mincey, who entered the portal after initially announcing that he was returning to Tennessee for the 2024 season, went back and forth with Vols fans a couple of weeks ago due to some unsavory tweets that were directed at the former UT offensive lineman.
“Really gave my all to Tennessee reading all these negative comments hurts man not gonna lie,” wrote Mincey in response to some negative tweets that were directed at him.
Mincey, who said he played with a torn MCL last season, also wrote “November 2” in a post on social media, which is a reference to Kentucky’s visit to Knoxville next fall.
The back and forth continued this week with a Tennessee fan tweeting a photo of Vols star edge rusher James Pearce at Mincey, a reference to the challenge that awaits Mincey in Neyland Stadium on November 2.
Mincey replied with a couple of laughing emojis.
