Today is a 48 FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY for the potential of strong to severe storms this afternoon and into the evening hours. Expect high temperatures to remain warm in the mid to upper 60s and winds will be breezy out of southwest with gusts up to 25 and 30 mph. A narrow line of showers and storms will redevelop and push west to east across the Tennessee Valley ahead of a cold front. Some of the storms will be capable of very heavy rain, isolated damaging winds, small hail, frequent lightning and embedded low-end tornadoes. Our highest threat for severe weather will mainly be for areas along and east of I-65, so stay weather alert! The threat for strong to severe storms should end for all areas this evening at 7 p.m. This is a low-end threat, but it only takes one storm to have a big impact on the community. You can always get the latest information on our WAFF 48 First Alert Weather App.
