CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WVLT) – A Tennessee Medal of Honor recipient has died at 81, according to the National Medal of Honor Museum. Captain Larry Taylor earned the Medal of Honor in September of 2023. He was given the honor for his actions in 1968 during the Vietnam War when he risked his life to make a helicopter rescue of four other soldiers whom enemy forces had surrounded. While under fire, Taylor waited for those shooting at him to run out of bullets so he could land the helicopter safely to rescue all of his fellow soldiers.
