MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A disabled senior has waited months to receive hundreds of dollars she’s owed from an assisted living facility.
Asbury Place in Maryville closed its doors in December. Emily Orr had paid a full month’s rent in November but moved out halfway through the month. She reached out to WATE when she couldn’t get an answer from Asbury Place. Orr said she called several times, but no check ever arrived.

In mid-October, 56 seniors living at the assisted living center at Asbury Place were told they had to find somewhere else to live. The community living division for Asbury communities told residents that the 55-year-old building faces extensive infrastructure repairs.
Orr said she left a month before the building closed. She and her mother Alma Moses have been trying to get a refund ever since. Orr had lived in the assisted living wing for three years.
“I enjoyed living there. I was able to have friends and activities and was also able to have my own space,” said Orr.
