TBI investigates fatal fire in Campbell County

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ( WATE ) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office are working to determine what caused a fire that left one person dead.

According to the Campbell County Rural Fire Service, crews were dispatched to a business in the 1000 block of Stinking Creek Road just after 8 a.m. The location is between LaFollette and Jellico.

Resolution to 1989 murder of KPD officer fails to bring closure to friend, police chief

One person was found dead inside the building. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

The fire department shared that the TBI is assisting the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
