KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ( WATE ) — A bill allowing ATVs to drive on certain roads in Oliver Springs every day of the year passed unanimously in the state senate.
Oliver Springs straddles Anderson, Morgan, and Roane Counties in East Tennessee. The area is its ATV tracks at Windrock Park, but until recently, people haven’t been allowed to drive those off-road vehicles into town.

State Senator Ken Yager introduced SB 1131 after he said the town’s mayor came to him with the proposal, hoping to bring tourists from the ATV tracks to the nearby town.
“The city felt like this would be a boost to their local economy because those folks that are using those strips of state highway and a couple of city streets in Oliver Springs may very well buy gas there; they could stop and eat at one of the restaurants there, or make a purchase at a local drug store,” said Yager.
