A Maryville woman’s false name went unnoticed long enough to be printed in The Daily Times this week. Shawnna Marie Blair, 43, Doc Norton Road, was initially listed on booking information from the Blount County Correctional Facility as Cayla Hopkins.
Deputies say Blair gave the name to avoid being arrested for pending violation of probation warrants. Her false name was printed in the public records section of the Monday, Jan. 29 edition of The Daily Times.
According to a police report, deputies on Raulston Road Friday, Jan. 26, stopped a gray Nissan Juke and identified the driver as Cody Brown, 33, Clover Hill Ridge Road. Blair, who was in the passenger seat, gave her name as Hopkins.
Marian O’Briant, public information officer for the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, said Blair had no identification at the time of the stop, meaning deputies had no reason to doubt her.
Deputies searched the vehicle and said they found a pair of straws with white residue, needles, 1.5 pills of hydrocodone and 1.1 grams of a white, grainy substance believed to be fentanyl. They also said they found a test strip for fentanyl, 8 grams of suspected marijuana and a scale with multiple baggies.
