One dead after shooting on Middlebrook Pike

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that took place Monday morning in West Knoxville.

The Knoxville Police shared one person was killed in a shooting in the 5600 block of Middlebrook Pike. Officers were sent to the NAPA AutoCare Center around 5:45 a.m. on Monday, February 5. KPD said that Daniel Arwood, 38, has been charged with first-degree murder following the shooting.

On scene, officers found a man who had been shot at least once in the fenced-in area behind the business. He was pronounced dead on the scene. KPD shared that the shooting took place after an argument between Arwood and the victim, who were co-workers.

KPD said a witness told police the suspect left the scene in a blue sedan. The vehicle was located by officers and a pursuit began. It ended at the dead end of E. Weisgarber Road. KPD said the driver ran from the car and into the woods.

Multiple KPD officers, K-9 units and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office’s Air Watch Unit responded to the area to assist in the search. Arwood was found and taken into custody just after 7 a.m.
