Brother, girlfriend charged with aiding Blount county shooting suspect

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — While the man charged with shooting two Blount County deputies remains at large , authorities have arrested the brother and girlfriend of the suspect.

Marcus Dehart, 41, was taken into custody on Friday and charged with accessory-after-the fact. Blount County Sheriff James Berrong identified him as the brother of Kenneth Dehart , who remains on the run after a shooting late Thursday that left deputy Greg McCowan dead and deputy Shelby Eggers injured.

Carrie Matthews , 32, was arrested late Thursday. She also faces a charge of accessory after the fact. According to court documents, investigators visited her Pigeon Forge home just before 10 p.m. in search of Dehart. An arrest warrant said that while officers were at the residence, Matthews received a call from a “Janeisha,” but the call was actually the suspect calling from that number. Matthews allegedly told the caller, “they’re here.”
