Kiki Milloy is one big swing away from becoming the new career home run leader for Tennessee softball.
Milloy tied the program record of 57 with a solo shot in the third inning of a second game of a doubleheader against Baylor on Friday.
The fifth-year centerfielder is now tied with Meghan Gregg who had been the program leader since 2018.
“As she’s coming around the bases, I just thought ‘Man, it’s going to be tough next year not to write No. 9 into that top of the order,’ ” Lady Vols coach Karen Weekly told UT sports information. “It’s been a blessing to coach her. She’s one of the great Lady Vols of all-time and not just talking softball.”
The No. 2 Lady Vols are off to a 3-0 start after beating UT-Arlington 15-0 in five innings Thursday and sweeping No. 19 Baylor 3-2 and 9-1.
The third game of the series against Baylor on Saturday was canceled due to inclement weather in Waco, Texas.
