KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — TDOT is working to repair numerous potholes on interstate and state routes throughout Tennessee. TDOT said they are utilizing all available resources, including contract crews, to fix the damaged areas quickly, although drivers may experience some delays.
In January 2024, TDOT reported that they fixed 50% more potholes than in January 2022 and 2023. The increase in potholes was caused by massive winter storms, like the one that hit the state last month, bringing more snow than what the state usually gets in an entire winter season.

Drivers should expect some short traffic delays during these pothole repair operations. Although TDOT said they will try to perform repairs during off-peak hours (9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on weekdays), some lane closures may last until late afternoon, evening, and weekend.
TDOT breaks the state up into four regions of service. Knoxville is located in Region 1.
