KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Developers are seeking approval to build a new nine-story hotel building with street-level retail shops in downtown Knoxville .
If approved, the surface parking lot at 409 W. Church Avenue would be replaced with a 176-room hotel. It would feature ground-level commercial space, including two retail spaces on the corner of Walnut and Church and a café/restaurant space along Market Street.

The hotel would be located on the top four floors. Floors two through five would contain structured parking garage with nearly 300 parking spaces.
The building design provides space for a second-story rooftop patio above the café/restaurant space along Market Street.
An application was filed on Feb. 2 and will be discussed at the Knoxville-Knox County Planning Commission meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
