Amazon gives its employees a raise, just in time for new Knoxville warehouse opening

Amazon recently announced pay raises for thousands of its employees in Tennessee, including those at the new Knoxville warehouse and the high-tech fulfillment center in Alcoa. The company is increasing hourly wages for its warehouse and delivery workers as part of a broader effort to improve pay nationwide.

Starting next month, Amazon workers in Tennessee will see their wages rise to an average of $21 per hour, according to Patrick O’Neil, spokesperson for Amazon. This increase applies to full-time and part-time employees at Amazon’s fulfillment and sorting centers. Other hourly warehouse workers across the country will see at least a $1.50 increase per hour.

The previous average base wage for those Amazon jobs in Tennessee was $19.50 per hour.

“The transportation and customer fulfillment employees based in Knoxville will get this increase,” O’Neil told Knox News.

Amazon is increasing the average total compensation package for fulfillment and transportation employees nationwide to over $29 per hour after including benefits such as health insurance, 401(k) and paid time off.
