House fire ‘quickly knocked down’ in West Knox County

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ( WATE ) — Investigators are working to determine a cause after a house fire in West Knox County early Tuesday morning, according to the Rural Metro Fire Department.

Rural Metro crews responded to the scene Tuesday around 6:45 a.m. in the 800 block of Sanford Day Road. When crews arrived at the two-story home, they found smoke detectors sounding and a fire in an upstairs room.

“The fire was quickly knocked down, and the home ventilated from the smoke and heat,” a news release from Rural Metro spokesperson Jeff Bagwell stated. “Quick work resulted in moderate damage in the room of origin and smoke damage throughout the home.”

No injuries were reported.
