The outer bands of Hurricane Helene are colliding with regular late-summer rainstorms to create a soggy mess in East Tennessee. Conditions are expected to be dangerous.
As the rain continues to fall on already-soggy ground, flooding and fallen trees are forcing road closures.
Here’s a running list of closed streets in Knox County:
- Rutledge Pike closed between Loves Creek Road and Spring Hill Road for power poles down.
Great Smoky Mountains road closures from Hurricane Helene
- Rich Mountain Road and Balsam Mountain Road (Heintooga/Round Bottom/Straight Fork Road) from the Heintooga Picnic Area to the park boundary
- Heintooga Ridge Road
- Balsam Mountain Campground
- Parson Branch Road
