National media outlet predicts that Tennessee Vols will get majorly disrespected in new AP Top 25 poll

247Sports doesn’t think the Tennessee Vols will benefit from the Georgia Bulldogs’ loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide when the new AP Top 25 poll drops on Sunday.

Alabama won a thriller in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night, beating Georgia 41-34 (thanks in large part to true freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams, who already looks like a superstar).

Despite Georgia’s loss, which drops the Bulldogs to 3-1 on the season, 247Sports thinks they’ll stay ranked above Tennessee. They have Georgia at No. 4 in their rankings and Tennessee at No. 5.

From 247Sports : After Beck threw two interceptions in the first half, Georgia’s star quarterback found the end zone three times with his arm after intermission and finished with 439 yards through the air before falling just shot in Crimson Tide territory in the final minute. The Bulldogs’ 42-game winning streak in the regular season is over at the hands of a first-year coach and hungry Alabama team.

This would be quite a slap in the face to Tennessee. And it would be a horrendous look for AP voters. Putting Georgia at No. 4 after a loss this early in the season would be nothing more than a reputation vote. There’s no way they should be ranked above another undefeated SEC team (especially a team like the Vols that has a road win over a ranked opponent on their résumé).
