Food City, Eastman join United Way in fundraising campaign for flood relief

UNICOI COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) β€” Food City and the Eastman Foundation are working together along with the United Ways of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia to raise money for flood relief throughout the region.

On Monday, Food City and Eastman announced they would work with local broadcasting groups to host the fundraising campaign.

Food City and the Eastman Foundation announced they would each pledge $100,000 to kick off the fundraising drive.

The campaign starts on Tuesday, Oct. 1 and runs through Friday, Oct. 12 at all Food City locations. Customers can make a monetary donation to flood relief at checkout.

According to a news release from Food City and Eastman, 100% of all the funds collected will benefit the United Ways of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia as they work to provide relief from the catastrophic flooding.

β€œThe lives of many of our friends and neighbors have been devastated by this tragic flooding, and we want to do everything possible to ensure area flood victims receive much-needed resources during this critical time,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and CEO.
