Indie rocker Briston Maroney brought his Ultrapure Tour Part 2 to the HiFi Annex on a gorgeous Fall Saturday night. The 26-year-old Knoxville, TN native already has 4 EP and 2 studio albums under his belt after being discovered on American Idol in 2013. The most recent, Ultrapure, was released in 2023. Minneapolis trio Why Not got the evening started as the crowd slowly packed the sold-out venue. The sun had just set as Maroney and his band took the stage. He opened with “Body” off their latest album. When he announced “Small Talk” was off the EP Indiana, the crowd went nuts. The response was so jubilant, he stopped after the first verse, thanked the crowd and started over. Their set focused on high energy tracks as they jumped about the stage. The crowd sang along throughout the show. A four-song encore ended with “June” wrapping up a great performance by Briston Maroney.
