ALCOA, Tenn. (WATE) — Authorities are asking the Kings Court area and Hall community in Alcoa to shelter in place due to an ammonia spill.
The City of Alcoa Fire Department reported the spill around 9:40 p.m., urging businesses and residents to shelter in place and turn off HVAC units due to an ammonia chemical spill at US Foods, which is located in the 200 block on Kings Court.

The fire department said that while the smell of ammonia will not harm people, they do not want residents and visitors breathing in too much of the chemical by circulating it into homes and businesses.
