Trader Joe’s Announces 7th Tennessee Location

California-headquartered Trader Joe’s (TJ’s) opened its first store in Pasadena, CA, in 1967. The company has since grown to nearly 600 stores nationwide. Founder Joe Coulombe had a vision for a market that catered to the jet-set crowd of the 1960s. According to a CNN Business article from May 2022:

…appeal to the small but growing number of well-educated, well-traveled consumers that mainstream supermarkets were ignoring.

TJs currently operates six stores in Tennessee: two in Nashville and one each in Chattanooga, Franklin, Germantown, and Knoxville. The company has announced that a new store will be coming to the state in Murfreesboro, it will be at 2305 Medical Center Parkway. There is no firm date for the grand opening. The announcement suggests it will be before the end of 2024.

As with every other TJs, the store will participate in the Neighborhood Shares Program. This is the commitment to the community from the website:

we are proud of our long-standing commitment to donate 100% of products that go unsold but remain fit to be enjoyed by communities seeking food assistance.
