Tennessee Vols junior running back Dylan Sampson is having one of the best seasons in UT football history.
Sampson has rushed for 1,129 yards and 20 touchdowns through nine games for the Vols this season. He also has 12 receptions for 94 yards.
The Baton Rouge native has already set the Tennessee record for rushing touchdowns in a season. And he’s just 335 yards away from setting the Tennessee single season rushing yards record (Travis Stephens currently has the record with 1,464 rushing yards in 2001).
Sampson continued his impressive season by setting a new career high with 149 rushing yards in Tennessee’s 33-14 win against Mississippi State on Saturday night (Sampson suffered a leg injury in the first half, but he returned to the game and continued to churn out yards).
Despite the incredible season, Sampson isn’t getting any Heisman love from the national media.
And Vols wide receiver Squirrel White thinks he should be.
“He’s a soldier,” said White on Saturday night when asked about Sampson’s toughness. “Give him the Heisman.”
