The Tennessee Vols secured a big off-the-field win against the Georgia Bulldogs on Wednesday, just days ahead of their highly anticipated showdown in Athens this weekend.
Georgia has been working hard to flip 2025 four-star safety Lagonza “Shaedy” Hayward from Tennessee.
Hayward, 6-foot-1/200 lbs from Lyons, GA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 9 safety in the nation and the No. 13 player in the state of Georgia. He’s been committed to the Vols since late July.
Georgia never stopped recruiting Hayward after he committed to Tennessee. The Bulldogs obviously don’t want to see the talented defensive back leave the state.
Hayward, however, tweeted on Wednesday that he has no intentions of flipping his commitment.
Earlier this month, there were reports that Hayward was in Jacksonville for Georgia’s win against Florida.
Hayward quickly shot down those reports.
Hayward also told On3 in October that he wasn’t flipping his commitment from Tennessee.
“It was a great game….love being able to say I’m a Vol and I’m not flipping,” said Hayward to On3 . “This is home. Just to clear the air.”
