New law guarantees TennCare patients 12 month supply of birth control

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A new law going into effect on Jan. 1 makes it easier for people on TennCare to have access to contraceptives like birth control. Senate Bill 1919 allows doctors and healthcare providers to prescribe 12-months worth of birth control to people who utilize Tennessee’s Medicaid program. It also allows people to pick up the prescription from a doctor’s office, instead of a pharmacy.
