KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Across East Tennessee, there is a chance for wintry weather on Friday and throughout the weekend. Here’s what to know before it arrives.
Storm Team 6 is tracking the possibility for light snow across the region. The latest forecast models show the chance for some light snow or flurries early on Friday for parts of the region, and a possibility for a wintry mix Sunday into Monday.

For Friday, the best chance for snow is anticipated in the morning. By noon, most of the clouds that could bring snow are expected to have moved out for the day, except for in the highest altitudes of the Smokies. There is also a chance for some areas of the Smokies and Sevier County to see a wintry mix on Friday as well.
As far as accumulation goes, a majority of the region may see snow will see flurries without any major impact. At higher elevations in the Smoky Mountains and southeast Kentucky, up to an inch of snow is possible, with the highest elevations of the Smokies seeing two to three inches of snow.
