Alabama wide receiver Amari Jefferson has entered the transfer portal and may have a good idea of where he is going, according to report from Pete Nakos of On3 Sports.
And based on Nakos’ prediction, the wideout will remain in the Southeastern Conference, landing with the Tennessee Volunteers. What exactly he will present at in Knoxville or wherever he lands still largely remains to be seen, considering that he redshirted as a true freshman, not seeing action in any games.
His most notable accomplishment was being named scout team player of week for the South Carolina game by the program staff, so even though he spent the entire year waiting his turn, there’s no question he was putting in the work on the practice field.
But, unless anything changes, it looks like he will be putting in that same dedicated effort elsewhere.
Jefferson is a part of a mass exodus from Alabama following the Crimson Tide’s disappointing season in which they were left on the outside looking in from the College Football Playoff. The receiver position has been a particular area of issue in terms of players leaving Tuscaloosa, as Smith becomes one of many wideouts to leave the Alabama program and the second one since the season concluded.
