KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been requested to investigate a deadly shooting that happened as deputies were executing a search warrant Friday morning.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened shortly after 7:20 a.m. as deputies were conducting a search warrant in the 7800 block of Sevierville Pike in South Knox County.

KCSO said preliminary information from the scene suggests that as deputies were attempting to take the male suspect into custody, he refused to follow commands and displayed a firearm. At that point, the deputies discharged their weapons, the sheriff’s office said.
The suspect died following the shooting. No deputies were injured during the incident.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed to 6 news that it was requested to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting by Knox County District Attorney Charme Allen. The findings will be shared with Allen after the TBI’s agents complete their investigation.
