The Alabama Crimson Tide has 24 players in the transfer portal, including true freshman wide receiver Amari Jefferson. The 2024 four-star recruit is predicted to transfer to the Tennessee Volunteers, per On3Sports’ Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong.
Jefferson was the No. 204 player in On3Sports rankings as a recruit . He selected the Crimson Tide over Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn and 20 other schools.
The 6-foot, 200-pound receiver saw no playing time at Alabama in his true freshman season.
The Volunteers only have one incoming transfer , interior offensive lineman Wendell Moe, a four-star player from Arizona, according to On3Sports player rankings . Because of a large incoming recruiting class, Tennessee doesn’t have the roster flexibility to add many players via the portal.
The Volunteers rank 58th out of 70 programs in the On3Sports transfer portal team rankings . They estimate Tennessee has lost $1.8 million in NIL value with their exiting transfer portal players.
Jefferson, a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, could contribute early since the Volunteers have five wide receivers leaving the team via the transfer portal.
