Tennessee Vols among top 4 schools for elite 5-star defensive back

The Tennessee Vols are one of the top four schools for one of the most coveted 2026 recruits in the nation.

2026 five-star defensive back Brian Womack included Tennessee in his top four schools this week, along with Alabama, Ohio State, and Texas A&M.

Womack, 6-foot/195 lbs from Brandon, MS, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 safety in the nation the No. 2 player in the state of Mississippi. He’s also rated as the No. 19 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.

Womack told On3 that he plans to take official visits to each of his top four schools and commit to one of them in August.

“Tennessee has been on me for a long time and Coach (Josh) Heupel and the whole defensive staff stay in contact a lot,” said Womack to On3 of his interest in the Vols. “I love the relationships I have with the people there.”

Womack told Rivals.com that Tennessee was his first offer and that he could see himself fitting into the Vols’ defense.

The talented defensive back grew up rooting for Ohio State, which could be a tough obstacle to overcome for Tennessee. For now, though, the Vols are squarely in the mix for Womack.
