Social workers could run Knox County Schools Clothing Center under latest proposal

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The future of Knox County School’s Clothing Center will be voted on during a school board meeting on Thursday . This is a program that makes sure Knox County students have the clothing they need.

We first reported on the Clothing Center in October of last year , when it was run by a group of PTA members. That group did not renew their agreement with the center which is why KCS began looking for alternatives.

The Clothing Center has been open and operating since 1935 to help children within the school system get necessary clothing. The students are supplied with five sets of clothes per semester. The need for this service is critical for many those in Knox County…
