District Attorney recuses herself amid investigation of Knox County Trustee’s office

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Knox County District Attorney General Charme Allen has recused herself as the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury’s Office investigates the Knox County Government offices, including the Trustee’s Office.

On Thursday, 6 News obtained a criminal court order stating that District Attorney General Charme Allen has been recused from all matters pertaining to the Tennessee Comptroller’s investigation into the Knox County Government.

In Allen’s place, Fifth Judicial District Attorney General Ryan Desmond has been appointed to take over her responsibilities on the case. Desmond shared a statement with 6 News, saying he agreed to accept the prosecutorial oversight of the investigation into multiple Knox County government offices.

“I will be coordinating with the Comptroller’s Office and will address the matter at the conclusion of the investigation, in conjunction with the release of the Comptroller’s investigative findings,” Desmond wrote…
