KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A teacher and coach from West High School was charged with multiple counts of aggravated statutory rape and statutory rape by an authority figure following an investigation by the Knoxville Police Department’s Special Crimes Unit.
Chad Brooks, 32, was taken into custody on May 9 by the Morristown Police Department. He was later booked into the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility. As of April 4, he was on administrative leave with pay, pending a law enforcement investigation.

The investigation began in early April after KPD’s Special Crimes Unit was made aware of allegations about Brooks’ inappropriate behavior with past and current students. After further investigation, he was indicted by a Knox County Grand Jury for 16 counts of aggravated statutory rape and statutory rape by an authority figure. The indictment includes one victim across the multiple counts and alleges the behavior took place between January 2024 and March 2025.
