Tuesday warm and rainy in Carolinas; some risk of hail

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Morning showers will taper off this Tuesday morning as temperatures hover in the low to mid-60s. We’ll be mostly cloudy for much of the morning as winds flow out of the south-southwest between 3 and 8 miles per hour.

Tuesday will see a few peaks of sunshine as a low-pressure system dissipates over the Tennessee Valley region. The dry slot of this system will infiltrate the Queen City on Tuesday, which will give us a few peaks of sunshine here and there.

Highs will make a run for the upper 70s near 80 degrees on Tuesday, with pop-up showers and isolated thunderstorms possible. Storms and showers will be spotty in nature and track north and east throughout the day. A marginal risk for severe weather will be in effect for points just north and east of Uptown, with damaging winds and large hail being the main threats.

Flood concerns for our mountains should come down from the morning into Tuesday as storms taper off in the evening. Overnight lows will bottom out in the low 60s before the 80s lock in on Wednesday…
