Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful to hold first annual Tennessee River Watershed Mussel Fest

KODAK, Tenn. — It’s not often that a nonprofit invites you to check out their mussels!

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 17, Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful will hold the first annual Tennessee River Watershed Mussel Fest at Seven Islands State Birding Park, located at 2809 Kelly Lane, Kodak, Tenn.

The festival is free, and features a multitude of mussel-themed activities. Visitors can touch a mussel, participate in a raffle, see the impact of mussel filtration on waterways in a filtration display, witness the release of 200 mussels into the French Broad River, and watch program coordinators place Adopt a Mussel concrete silos into the riverbed.
