Firefighters rescue injured disk golfer in North Knox County

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Firefighters with Rural Metro answered a rescue call Sunday morning, helping an injured disk golfer at Tommy Schumpert Park in North Knox County.

Rural Metro Fire said the disk golfer fell in the woods near the next-to-last hole on the disk golf course. The disk golfer did not suffer life threatening injuries, but they were not able to walk off the course on their own.

“You just never know when you could experience an emergency,” Rural Metro wrote.

The disk golfer was only about a quarter mile from the start of the course, so fire fighters used a wheeled litter to get them back to the beginning of the course safely. Photos from the rescue show the litter, which looks similar to a stretcher with a single wheel on the bottom…
