Farragut named one of the top ‘freest’ cities in Tennessee by state think-tank

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Independent nonprofit research organization, Beacon Center of Tennessee, ranked the city of La Vergne the “freest city” in the state.

The Beacon Center of Tennessee released its ‘City Freedom Index’ Tuesday morning, ranking the states 30 most populous cities based on 70 different policies across four categories: Free enterprise, private property, individual liberty and cost of government.

The Beacon Center looked at how cities regulate businesses, costs or prohibitions placed on private property, restrictions or requirements on constitutionally protected activities, taxes and the cities’ overall fiscal health…
