SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Two people are facing charges after a dog was found inside a hot car in a Walmart parking lot.
Kaitlynn Breiner and Jose Martinez were charged with cruelty to animals after being arrested on June 28. According to a report from the Sevierville Police Department, officers responded to the Walmart on the Parkway on June 28 for a report about a dog being left in a vehicle.

The officers found a large Pitbull Mix male dog in the back seat of the vehicle, frantically panting, without any food or water in sight. The report lists that the heat measured 88 degrees Fahrenheit and felt like 93 degrees Fahrenheit. Officers began to get into the vehicle to remove the dog. The report added that civilians assisted during the process by giving the dog water through the small crack in the window.
Officers found the vehicle’s owner and his girlfriend as they left Walmart. They were identified as Martinez and Breiner and taken into custody. According to the report, they were advised of their Miranda Rights and questioned about the heat, how long they were in Walmart and why they left their dog. They reportedly told officers they were in the store for around 40 minutes, and they did not know they could take the dog inside…
