KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A new restaurant in Kern’s Food Hall is opening its doors this Fourth of July weekend, serving up fried chicken and donuts that are safe for those with celiac disease and gluten allergies.
Disco Chicken and Donuts shared on Thursday that it will be opening its doors on the Fourth of July, and a grand opening celebration will be held on July 11.

From made-to-order fried chicken tenders to smoked gouda macaroni and cheese and a variety of handcrafted donuts, the restaurant said it’s Knoxville’s first gluten-free restaurant. Disco Chicken said patrons with celiac disease or those who avoid gluten do not have to worry about cross-contamination, as the brand is 100% gluten-free.
Disco Chicken is located in Kern’s Food Hall, at 2201 Kern’s Rising Way. After walking in the main doors from the parking lot, the restaurant is to the right of the seating area and has lively, disco-inspired décor that is hard to miss.
