New Sevier County Humane Society director plans to raise awareness about the organization

SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Sevier County Humane Society has hired a new leader who told WVLT her goal is to remind people of who they are and what they do.

Barbie White is just weeks on the job of leading the Sevier County Humane Society. She said her previous career as a school teacher has her ready for the new job of saving the animals.

She said one of her first goals is to raise awareness of who they are and what they do, adding the center is not that far away.

“We’re really not that far. We’re trying to get our message that we are out here, and these are the animals we have available, and to try to get our word out that we also do our spay and neuter,” said White. “The best part about this place is we sit on 65 beautiful acres. And the driveway is shaded and beautiful; you can get your steps in by walking our dogs. To the gate and back is one mile.”…
