Knox County Sheriff’s deputy returns home after suffering severe head trauma on duty

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Knox County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Dalton Swanger returned home after a head injury, KCSO announced Thursday afternoon.

“Deputy Swanger is HOME, and we couldn’t be happier!” KCSO posted. “Thank you for all the prayers. To the medical staff at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, our wonderful community, and the OP Nation for everything done on Deputy Swanger’s behalf. We are incredibly grateful to you all!”

KCSO added that Swanger will continue rehabilitation at home and that he is looking forward to being strong enough to have visitors and to get back to work.

On June 22, Christpher Michael Hensley was accused of striking Swanger with a large rock or brick during the filming of “On Patrol Live,” causing severe head trauma, according to court records. Hensley faces charges including attempted second-degree murder.
