Shots fired during vehicle pursuit in Loudon County, driver crashes into police vehicle

Lenoir City, Tenn. (WATE) — Shots were fired and a driver crashed into a patrol vehicle during a chase, according to the Loudon County Sheriff’s Department.

Around 2:00 a.m. Sunday, LCSO helped the Knox County Sheriff’s Office pursue a white jeep driven by a person wanted on robbery charges, LCSO said. The jeep entered Loudon County on Highway 70. During the pursuit, shots were fired, law enforcement said.

“Thankfully, no deputies, officers, or the suspect were injured,” LCSO said.

The chase continued along Highway 70 into Lenoir City. The driver turned onto Highway 321, striking a Lenoir City Police Department patrol vehicle, LCSO said. Deputies then performed a PIT maneuver then boxed the jeep in. The driver was taken safely into custody, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol is helping process the crash.
