South Knoxville church opens its doors to people in need as a cooling center

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The summer can bring some very hot days, and because of that, a church in South Knoxville is opening its doors to people in need for shelter from the heat.

“The weather’s hot, the humidity is warm out there, and it’s just a huge opportunity,” Pastor Eric Johnson at Vestal United Methodist Church said. “It’s very easy to engage with people and bring them in here.”
