WALDENS CREEK, Tenn. (WATE) — A driver fell down a 30–40-foot embankment while trying to get out of a vehicle after a crash in Sevier County, the Waldens Creek Volunteer Fire Department said. WCFD and other first responders rescued the person.

Around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, WCFD responded to the scene of an accident on the 1700 block of Goose Gap Road. When the crews arrived, they found a vehicle had collided with a pole, snapping it and leaving downed power lines across the road.

Together, they performed a rope rescue.

The rescue operation began at 3:46 a.m. and was completed by 4:10 a.m. They safely extracted the driver and took them to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
