Sheriff’s Office: Person shot by officers attempting to serve warrant in Knox County

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating after a person got shot in the hand while officers tried to serve an outstanding warrant, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office said.

KCSO officers were trying to serve an outstanding warrant in the 7300 block of Brook Run in South Knox County Wednesday morning. While serving the warrant, something happened that resulted in an officer firing at least one shot, a spokesperson for KCSO said.

A person was struck in the hand and was taken to the hospital for treatment, the spokesperson said. The injuries appear non-life-threatening.

“At the request of 6th Judicial District Attorney General Charme Allen, TBI agents are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred this morning in South Knox County,” shared the agency in a statement to 6 News…
