Man facing charges in Lexington arrested after pursuit through West Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A man wanted on multiple charges out of Lexington, Kentucky was arrested in Knoxville on Thursday after leading sheriff’s deputies on high-speed pursuit.

Knox County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives were assisting in the apprehension of Reza Varnamkhasti Jalali. He was wanted on several charges from a prior domestic incident including second-degree assault, third-degree terroristic threats, kidnapping, and first-degree wanton endangerment.

Law enforcement located a black Jeep known to be driven by Jalali on Northshore Drive near Pellissippi Parkway. The vehicle did not stop when deputies attempted to make a traffic stop at 414 North Peters Road, leading to a pursuit.

According to a sheriff’s office spokesperson, the Jeep was driven recklessly at high speeds for approximately 13 minutes until it became caught up in traffic at the intersection of South Northshore Drive and Concord Road. The suspect exited the vehicle and tried to run away before being taken into custody.
